You might have the wrong idea about soy
🌱 This month, our in-house writer Ashley continues the discussion on food security by
demystifying how soy production can actually help us solve global health-related issues. But aren't there downsides? How can we make soy work for us, and the planet?

Best ways to beat the summer heat 🥵 As I'm sure you know, oppressing heat waves have been
occurring all over the world this summer causing devastating wildfires, droughts, evacuations and heat-related deaths. Here in France, the intense heat has lasted more than a month. And the last thing you want to do is blast the A/C or drive for hours to the beach, because emitting more
greenhouse gasses isn't the answer. So how do you beat
the heat? I've compiled some of our team's best planet-conscious ways of keeping cool: |
| 🌬️ When I'm out I always carry my small and easy-to-carry Japanese fan. At home, I have a bamboo towel I can wet and leave in the freezer to put around my neck when I’m too hot. - Emma | |
| 🏊♀️ It’s all about having a
good schedule of cracking and closing windows as the temperature fluctuates from day to night. A quick jump in a pond/lake never hurts as well! - Julia
| 🍵 I usually close all the
curtains, put on some cotton PJs, and drink a glass of ice Maesil-Cha (a Korean tea made from preserved Japanese apricot syrup). This tangy tea is specifically known for quenching thirst, helping overcome fatigue, and stimulating the appetite: perfect for the lazy summer heat! -

| 💡 I like to keep the
lights off in my apartment during the day - saves electricity and keeps things cooler! -
Kristina | |
| 🌳 I find a shady
spot and remember to thank the tree! I have my glass water bottle with me and remember to be thankful for the opportunity I have to stay hydrated. - Jean
As for me, the essentials are: my rechargeable desk fan, a tall glass of cold, herb-infused water (fresh basil or rosemary), and my summer Spotify
playlist! ☀️ |
What's going on @ Stardust...
➫ If you applied for the Director of Funding & Partnerships position we sent out last month, please know that we have received applications and are postponing the interviews and start date to early 2023. Continue to read our newsletters and follow our social media to get updates on this! ➫ Congratulations to Caeli Energie, the 2022 winner of the I-LAB Award! This 6-figure award is a huge financial boost for the startup creating low-carbon air conditioners. It also represents much-needed scientific recognition by the Minister of Research and Higher Education (France). "The team is growing, the prototype 2022 field
tests are conclusive, and commercialization has never been so close. The world is changing and so are the temperatures. Conventional air conditioning only makes things worse by consuming astronomical amounts of electricity, aggravating heat islands and rejecting ultra-polluting refrigerants. These air conditioners have to disappear and we are working on that!"
➫ Last weekend, Sashka Avanyan, founder of
Creopia, hosted the first ever FemInno Conference in Yerevan, Armenia. FemInno is a conference appreciating, showcasing and empowering women in business, science and technology. "It was a wonderfully inspiring whirlwind of two
days that activated so much action by people who all care about a more balanced and just ecosystem. Women in positions of leadership always bring a new important tone to any team and there is nothing I enjoy more than witnessing that shift occurring in Armenia."
➫ There will be no call for proposals this
September. We are fully focused on applying for funding and restructuring internally. Thanks for sticking with us! 😊 |
Until next month!
